Fancy Lights on Airport road

fancy light

Rawalpindi development authority(RDA) has taken initiative on the decoration of the Airport road. In this project it was planned to reconstruct the damage road, rebuilt the road bank, and setup new style Fancy Lights to give an attractive look to the airport road.

This project was started before the visit of China President, at that time roads were carpeted and road bank was colored. Also they install 25 new Fancy Lights on road side from Dhoke Hafiz Stop to Airport U-turn.

Currently Airport Road development phase 2 has finished. In this phase they rebuild the Airport road from Dhoke Hafiz Stop to Koral Stop. Also road has been extended near Gulzar-e-Qaid. Fancy globe light project was also updated and the now airport road has fancy globe starting from Koral Stop to Airport U-turn. In this project, RDA also put a police and Rangers joint check post on the starting point of Koral Stop for monitoring of traffic that are going towards Benazir International Airport.

Fancy Lights or Globes

Fancy Lights or Globes are basically containing LEDs that are programmable. These LEDs lights have specially property through which they can change their color. Their spectrum band is multiple through which these Fancy globes are customize-able according to current needs. Like on Independence night, these Fancy globes have flag color (green and white). Currently they are in mix color like Green, blue, red.

Why Airport Road Selected for Fancy Lights Project?

Airport road was selected for this project because in past Benazir International Airport was declared among one of the worst Airports. Public has also a lot of complains. People when get out of the airport they don’t get good feeling because the area was not highly modernized. So to give the better first image of the city airport road was selected. Also delegations from other countries, land in Benazir International Airport and the rout they follow to reach their destination was Airport to Koral Stop and their they enter into the Islamabad Express Way. So Airport road as selected to give better image of the area.

Public Reaction on the Fancy Lights Project

Public has mixed response on this project. Some of the public like it. They said that this project has added beauty to the area, and give beautiful image to the guest that come from outside the city or country. They also requested to extend this project on more locations like near GHQ, Murree Road and in Saddar. But there are some people that are against it. They have a point that government is wasting their money on these lavishing projects. And not focusing on the basic necessity of the public. Few also has commented on the color of the LEDs that they look very Odd. Lights combination was not proper. The project management was not taking visual beauty tips in consideration while assigning colors to the globes.

Project Rating:

Finally, this project is rated 7/10 by the public.

Suggestions :

  • These globes should be operated through Solar Energy
  • Government should also setup Solar Panel on the street that give electricity for the Globes.
  • Extension of the project on other major locations of the city.
  • People have also given suggestion that project management also take classes on the color combination and visual beauty.
